Address Posting Requirements Explained. Village of Barnesville Ordinance Chapter 1371 requires that the owners and each adult occupant of all houses, apartments or other residences located within the Village of Barnesville shall post the street number of said house, apartment, or other residence at some conspicuous place on the building or grounds. Said number shall be of sufficient size to be visible from the street. Anyone failing to comply may be fined a sum not exceeding fifty dollars ($50.00). Each day of noncompliance may be considered a separate offense. Making sure your house numbers can be seen helps first responders find your location easier.

Barnesville Sidewalk Loan Program. Barnesville Village Council is offering a loan program to residents to replace deteriorated sidewalks. The program offers zero percent loans to replace the walks that travel parallel with Village streets and will include curbs and driveway aprons. The village will select and pay the contractor and then send a monthly invoice to the property owner. All rules, regulations, and specifications of the village will be followed. Applicants must have not had any delinquent water bills over the past 24 months, unpaid Village Income taxes, or unpaid fines. Contact Village Administrator Roger Deal at 740-425-1880 with questions about the program. Applications are available at the Barnesville Water Department at 126 E. Church St., Barnesville, OH.

Contractor & Building Permits Required. Completing a project this year? You may need to obtain a building permit with the Village. Any time you are building or remodeling commercial or residential property within the Village of Barnesville Corporation limit you must first obtain a building permit. This gives you legal permission form the Village to begin construction work or demolition. These permits must be obtained BEFORE your project can begin. Contractors are also required to obtain a permit with the Village prior to doing contractor work within the Village Corporation Limit. These permits can be obtained from the Fiscal Office at the Municipal Building, 132 N Arch St, Barnesville on the 2nd floor.

South Arch Street Bids. The village of Barnesville is currently accepting bids for an open lot at 115 South Arch Street that the village acquired through a tax sale before removing the dilapidated structure. Legal Notices are currently running in the daily newspaper for the sale of the 32’ x 66’ lot. Bids will be accepted until Thursday, May 30, 10:00 when bids will be open and read aloud. Questions should be directed to Village Administrator Roger Deal, (740) 425-1880.

Spring Street Sweeping. The Village Street Department will begin sweeping streets once weather improves. Be on the lookout for flyers to be placed on vehicles for no parking days to allow street sweeping of your street.

Park Pool opening date is set for Saturday, May 25, 2024.

Barnesville Independence Day Celebration Save to the date for the annual Independence Day Celebration to be held at Barnesville Memorial Park on Saturday, July 6, 2024, fireworks at dusk.
