Enterprise Album

This scene was photographed from Route 800 opposite Hendrysburg during the time the giant earthmover GEM of Egypt exposed the Number 8 coal seam along the ridge just north of the Kirkwood Township Village in the 1960s.

Also visible was the Valley Grocery, long since gone, that got its start in the late 1860s as the home of the Disciples of Christ congregation. For much of its time, however, the building was home to the Wilkins General Store.

Also visible in the photo is a Triple A Auto Club sign promoting another Hendrysburg business from the past, Wesley’s Garage.
