Barnesville Celebrates in Grand Style

Barnesville will celebrate Independence Day with a day swimming, baseball, music and fireworks marking a long standing celebration at Barnesville Memorial Park.
The village’s Independence Day celebration will take place at the park Saturday, July 5 with a rain date of Sunday, July 6.
“This is a family friendly event with free entertainment throughout the day,” said Mayor Jake Hershberger.
A free swim will be available from noon to 6 p.m. at the pool while also offering hot food including, sloppy joes, coney dogs, hot dogs, soft pretzels, nachos and snacks at the pool concession stand.
People will be able to enjoy live music at 5 p.m. at the Amphitheater and DJ Shamrock Entertainment playing from 7 p.m. until the time of fireworks at dusk in the Mother’s Club Shelter.
People will also be able to take in America’s pastime—a baseball tournament from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. over four-days, July 3-6.
Food vendors will be at the park that day will include Cowgirl Country Fixins, Shamrock Tropical Sno, DiRusso’s Food Trailers and Hudson’s Brick Oven Pizza and Homemade Ice Cream.
The fireworks display this year will almost double last year’s show thanks to corporate sponsors Belmont Savings Bank, Woodsfield Savings Bank, Riesbeck’s Food Markets, Panhandle Cleaning & Restoration and Grenadier III Energy Partners LLC. Village council also approved $4,000 in additional funds for this year’s program.
Fireworks rockets will be launched at dusk from the Barnesville Airport by members of the Barnesville VFD.
The ideal place to view the fireworks is at Memorial Park located just beyond Rotary Lake from the end of the airport runway.
For safety reason spectators are prohibited along Fairview Road and on the Airport Access Road.
Donations for the fireworks show are still being accepted by sending checks payable to The Fireworks Fund at Barnesville Park, 130 Fair St. Barnesville, OH, 43713. Spectators may also drop money in buckets at the park entrance the evening of the event.
“We hope the program will continue to grow in the coming years,” Hershberger said. “Come out and enjoy the day.”
Any change of plans for the day will be announced on the village’s website barnesvilleohio.com and on its Facebook and X pages.
