Shamrock Alumni Weekend Features Parade, Banquet

Scores of former Barnesville High School graduates and their guests will soon descend upon the “old hometown” for Alumni Weekend 2025.

All-Grad Parade

This marks the 4th year for the growing alumni parade, rebranded this year as the “Shamrock All-Grad Parade”. The parade will fill the downtown business district Saturday afternoon, July 12, at 12:30 p.m.

Parade organizer, Sally Davies Johnson ’72, said “all classes are welcome and encouraged to attend and will be entered into a cash prize drawing.  The parade will be led by the Barnesville Shamrock Marching Band.”

Vehicles of any kind are acceptable – cars, golf carts, side by sides, even bicycles and little red wagons – decorated or undecorated and it is never too late to make plans to join in the fun.

The parade will line up at noon between the Watt Center and the Rock Gym on Watt Avenue off of Mulberry Street.

The parade will move at 12:30 p.m. heading west along Church Street, left onto Arch and right on Main ending at the grade school gymnasium.

Immediately following the parade, a complimentary lunch will be available for parade entrants at the Blue Moon Biergarten. To register, or for further information, please call or text Sally Johnson at (740) 238-1706.  Please register by Thursday, July 10.  There is no fee to register, planners just need to know how many vehicles and approximate number of people taking part.

Alumni Banquet

The alumni banquet will take place in the high school cafeteria Saturday night.

In the early evening hours focus shifts to Barnesville High School where the annual Alumni Banquet will take place. The social hour will begin at 5 p.m. with dinner to follow at 6 p.m.

Five-year reunion classes will be recognized including the 50-year class of 1975. A representative for each reunion class will speak.

The highlight of the evening will be the Barnesville Area Education Foundation Hall of Fame induction ceremonies.

Two individuals will be named to the Barnesville Area Education Foundation Hall of Fame during the banquet program. They are Daniel Plumly ’71 and Sam Reynolds ’75.  Read the foundation’s biographies press release previously published on Barnesville Area News.

The banquet is compliments of the efforts of Rita Hall and a committee of dedicated volunteers who make the banquet an annual homecoming for reunion classes and BHS graduates!
