Holloway Celebrates 77th Oldtimers Baseball Festival

Holloway will celebrate its 77th annual Oldtimers Baseball Festival with food, a car show, parade and more.
The Oldtimers festival will begin at 11 a.m., with the kitchen opening at that time daily, Labor Day Weekend, Aug 29-31, with the festival concluding at 5 p.m. Aug. 31.
The festival features a variety of foods, including ham and bean soup with cornbread, pork sandwiches and barbeque chicken, all cooked over an open fire. The festival will also have Italian sausages.
An old-school baseball game at noon, car, truck and bike show from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Holloway Volunteer Fire Department and Oldtimers parade at 5 p.m. and Chinese auction drawings will be featured Saturday.
Sunday will feature garden tractor pulls by Harrison County Lil’ Hustlers at 9 a.m. and a Chinese auction drawing at 4 p.m. followed by a 50/50 raffle drawing.
Vendor tables, old-school games, Mr. Squeezy’s Lemonade & Sno Cones, karaoke and music on Friday and Saturday evenings are also on the agenda.

Oldtimers Organizers are asking businesses to be sponsors for the festival. They will put up “Sponsor Signs” on advertisements for the businesses. Stars on the signs represent a sponsor’s level: five stars for more than $500 in donations, four stars for more than $400, three stars for $300 and one star for $100. Organizers remind these businesses all donations are tax deductible.
Monetary donations can also be mailed to Holloway Old Timers, 421 E. Main Street, Flushing.
Organizers are also looking for volunteers to help with games for children. Contact Linda Nester at 740-541-5401 or Trina Carrel at 740-461-8373 if interested in helping in any way. They are also asking for items for the Chinese auction and soda, water and baked goods.
“This is the only event that we hold each year, so a successful festival is crucial to fund our organization all year long,” the Oldtimers organization said.
