Festival Auction Nets Over $20,000
The auction of the King Pumpkin along with the carved pumpkin and six handblown glass pumpkins Saturday afternoon following the parade netted over $20,000 for the festival.
The King Pumpkin Auction drew the most attention, and when local auctioneer Richard Pryor ended the last call with a winning bid of $14,000, a consortium of local individuals, organizations, businesses and festival vendors were declared the winner! A complete list of winning group members is being prepared by the festival committee. The same group purchased the pumpkin last year for $13,000.
