Rock the Cure Recipent Honored: Anita Rogers

Football players, cheerleaders, band members, students, and fans wore pink at Friday’s football game. It was not only homecoming but also the Rock the Cure game, raising awareness for Breast Cancer. After the first quarter, Anita Rogers was recognized and honored as this year’s Rock the Cure recipient. The MS Cheerleading Coaches, Katey and Emily Rockwell, nominated Anita for this recognition.
Anita Rogers is a former cheerleader. The announcer during the presentation stated that Anita is “a shining example of strength, spirit, and positivity.” The announcer continues to state that Anita faced breast cancer with “the courage and determination that defines a true champion.”
The Barnesville Cheerleaders sold Rock the Cure T-shirts to raise $4068, which was given to Anita. Additionally, the Football Moms awarded Anita the 50/50 proceeds.
Anita Rogers serves as a director on the Barnesville Area News Company Board. She serves on the Board with the same “cheerleader heart.” The Barnesville Area News Board members express their congratulations to Anita for receiving this well-deserved recognition.
According to the American Cancer Society, this year marks the 40th anniversary of the founding of October Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The month is a time to create awareness, to improve access to care, and to honor the millions of lives impacted by breast cancer.
