Barkcamp Barn Ribbon-Cutting

BELMONT – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources will rededicate the barn at Barkcamp State Park at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 18 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“This rustic landmark has received a thoughtful refresh and cleanup to help preserve its charm and ensure it remains a welcoming stop for park visitors. Inside, you’ll now find interpretive panels and historic farming tools that share the story of eastern Ohio’s agricultural roots around the turn of the 20th century,” the release notes.

The barn is also the last one touched up by Belmont resident and Mail Pouch Tobacco barn painter, Harley Warrick, before his passing in 2000. He originally painted the mural in the 1980s.

The barn is also listed on the newly launched America 250-Ohio Creativity Trail according to the Belmont County Tourism Office.

Belmont County’s only state park, Barkcamp, is located at 65330 Barkcamp Road, Belmont.
