Barnesville, Ohio Communities Read the Declaration of Independence
At more than 100 locations throughout the State of Ohio, including Barnesville, the Declaration of Independence was read at 6 p.m., Wednesday evening, July 8.
“From Governor DeWine to Scouts, veterans, students, community leaders and a newly naturalized U.S. citizen, voices from across Ohio came together to read the Declaration of Independence as part of a nationwide, simultaneous public reading marking America’s 250th anniversary,” noted a press release by the group, America 250 – Ohio.
Barnesville’s reading took place at the Veterans’ Plaza before a small group of patriotic citizens.
A costumed Landon Harris, recent 2026 BHS graduate, fulfilled the duties for the local community.
The program, presented as part of the national America 250 initiative, was supported locally by the Barnesville America250-Ohio Committee, the Village of Barnesville and the Barnesville Area Chamber of Commerce.
