Back-to-School Fun in the Ville: Another Success

The Barnesville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Barnesville EVSD Title I department teamed up to support students and their families and to have some summer fun.

According to Elementary Principal Zack Powell, 150 families went through the Back-to-School Fair line last week , with each student receiving a backpack. Elementary students also learned who their teachers would be for the new school year.

“Our annual Back-to-School Fair is designed to create a welcoming opportunity for families to connect with the school and access resources that support student success,” Powell said. “With a strong relationship between families, school, and community, we hope to close achievement gaps by removing barriers to student success.”

After receiving their backpacks, students went from booth to booth and to businesses on Main Street to learn about community resources and to collect much needed school supplies, like glue sticks, paper, pencils, and erasers.

“Connecting parents directly with community partners creates a strong support system where Barnesville schools grow, inspire, and lead our students toward a successful year,” said Clint Abbott, Director of Special Education and Student Services.

Families and community members enjoyed the Fun in the Ville with Barn Brew Coffee Company and Shamrock Tropical Sno. Activities were set up for the kids, including a splash tower where kids threw balls at the target to dump buckets of water on school “celebrities.” Of course, the event also included the inflatable race.
