Pumpkin Royalty Pageant Set for Sunday
The Barnesville Pumpkin Festival Pageant will take place on Sunday, September 20, starting at 4 pm at the Barnesville High School Auditorium. Doors open at 3 o’clock, and tickets are $5 at the door. Twenty candidates will compete for the titles of Queen, Princess, and Mini Miss.
The winners will be determined by the following judged categories: an interview with a panel of judges, a talent demonstration, an on-stage speech, and an evening gown modeling.

This year, the public will be picking the “Pumpkin Pretty” award recipients. This award was established in memory of long-time Barnesville Pumpkin Festival Pageant volunteer Dan Criswell. Traditionally, it was presented to the contestant who was voted “Most Photogenic”.
People can “vote” this year for their favorite contestant by casting their votes with a donation to the pageant. Votes are $2 each, and money can be submitted directly through Venmo @PumpkinPageant. On Venmo, the voter will be asked: “What’s this for?” Their response should include the age group (queen, princess, mini miss) and the name of their favorite candidate.
The “Pumpkin Pretty” winner of each age division will receive prizes, an invitation to the queen luncheon, and a spot on the royalty float in the Giant Pumpkin Parade.
Pageant organizer Autumn Kessler shared that this type of voting contest is a trend in the pageant arena. All of the money raised will help support and grow the Pumpkin Pageant for the future.
Voting ends when the pageant begins at 4 pm on Sunday.
