King and Carved Pumpkins Remain on Display
The 2026 Barnesville Pumpkin Festival King Pumpkin and pumpkin decoratively carved by the “squash carver” remain on display in the downtown business district a week after the festival.
The King Pumpkin is located in the East Main Street parking lot area while the donated carved pumpkin, that weighs over 1,000 pounds, is located along East Church Street in the parking lot of Woodsfield Savings Bank.
Woodsfield Savings bank purchased the carved pumpkin at Saturday afternoon’s auction. This year’s carving was a celebration, created by Gus “Squashcarver” Smithhisler, for the 250th America celebration..
When display time is over, the King Pumpkin will be opened up and the seeds removed, saving them to sell to future pumpkin grower hopefuls.
The 1,837-lb. King Pumpkin was grown by Jerry Rose II of Huntsburg, Ohio, three-time winner of the annual contest.
