TechAssist Expo Brings Possibilities to Life

Press Release

ST. CLAIRSVILLE – The many ways technology gives people with developmental disabilities greater independence, safety, and confidence will be on display at the 2026 TechAssist Expo on Thursday, November 5, 2026, from 2 to 5 p.m.

Hosted by the Belmont, Harrison, and Noble County Boards of Developmental Disabilities, the free, interactive event is open to the public and will be held at the Belmont County Board, 68421 Hammond Road, St. Clairsville.

For a person with a disability who wants to prepare their own meals, technology can make a huge difference. A stove equipped to shut off automatically when left unattended can make independence possible without sacrificing safety.

More than 50 examples of technology will be on display, showcasing a wide range of options. These include simple adaptive tools that help someone turn a key or open a jar, as well as interactive smart home technologies that use voice commands to control lights or sensors to detect a fall.

Amber Cross, Director of Service and Support Administration for the County Boards, is excited for families, caregivers, and providers to see and try technologies that enhance supports.

“Technology makes a positive impact on the people we support,” Cross said. “Sometimes it can be hard to imagine what is possible, and the Expo gives everyone a chance to see and try many items firsthand”.

Representatives from EZ-Integration Inc., THS Remote Supports, Rest Assured, REM Community Services, SafeinHome, BoundaryCare, and the Mid-East Ohio Regional Council will be available to demonstrate their equipment and services and answer questions.

The Momentum Refresh vehicle will also be on site and available for tours. The fully accessible mobile restroom offers individuals with disabilities and their caregivers a safe and dignified restroom option while attending community events.

The BHN Alliance, a partnership of the Belmont, Harrison, and Noble County Boards of Developmental Disabilities, funds and coordinates services and supports for more than 800 eligible people with developmental disabilities, such as autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and other intellectual and physical disabilities.
