Barnesville’s Best Ohio Hometown Magazine Issue is Out

Earlier this fall, Barnesville was selected by Ohio Magazine as one of Ohio’s Best Hometowns 2025-2026. Other communities selected through a rigorous vetting process for the honor were Ashland, Green, Mt. Vernon and Yellow Springs.

The Barnesville issue is now available to purchase either in hand or in the mail to magazine subscribers.

The magazine has produced a short video profile on the town that is currently posted on the publication’s website.

“This Belmont County village’s historic architecture and annual pumpkin festival showcase the rich traditions the community is building on for a new generation,” notes the magazine’s promo.

This honor comes to the Barnesville community thanks to a nomination submitted by Jackee Pugh, Belmont County Tourism director, and the excellent coordination and cooperation of Jill Hissom, Chamber director, Mayor Jake Hershberger and site representatives from Dickinson Cattle Company, Barnesville Pumpkin Festival, Watt Center for History and the Arts, Belmont County Victorian Mansion Museum, Olney Friends School and others.

Ohio Magazine officials will return to Barnesville on December 6 during Christmas in the Ville activities to formally recognize the community, according to Hissom. Stay tuned for more details as they develop.
