Victorian Mansion Museum Opens for Season May 1
Kentucky Derby Tea Will Take Place on May 2
The Belmont County Victorian Mansion Museum will open for the season the first weekend of May, offering regular hours, new exhibits and special events for the community.
The first weekend of regular hours will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday, May 1–3. The museum will maintain those hours throughout the summer season until early October.
New this year will be micro-exhibits. May’s exhibit will focus on travel during the time period and explore how the family that built the museum came to Barnesville, according to board member Brock Rogers.
To celebrate opening weekend, the museum will host a Kentucky Derby Tea at 11:30 a.m. May 2. The event costs $25 for Belmont County Historical Society members and $30 for non-members. Advanced reservations are required and can be made through the organization’s website or by calling Rogers at 740-310-7093.
Ahead of the official opening, the museum will welcome Barnesville High School students for prom photos from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. April 25. The first floor will be open for photos at no cost, though donations will gladly be accepted.
Rogers also reminds the public that the museum and museum grounds may be rented for business meetings and special events including weddings and receptions. Rentals may be for specific portions of the museum, the gazebo and grounds for as short a time as one hour, several hours, or even an entire day. For details call Rogers at 740-310-7093.
