Last Call Issued for Waterline Connections

April 30 Deadline Looms

The Village of Barnesville is moving forward with the North Waterline Extension Project to expand public water service to areas along the Mt. Olivett loop and Hendrysburg in Belmont County, as well as the Village of Fairview in Guernsey County.

The project will improve water quality, system reliability, and provide public water service to homes currently relying on private wells, according to the project coordinating agency, Great Lakes Community Action Partnership.

Construction is anticipated to begin in the fall and is expected to last approximately 8 months, weather permitting.

Connecting to the waterline is voluntary. There is no mandatory connection requirement.

  • Homeowners who connect during initial construction and provide an easement will have project funded installation of the meter pit, water meter and service line from the street to the building’s foundation.
  • There is no cost to the homeowner for these items if connected during construction. No income restrictions or applications are required.
  • Easements apply only to the portion of property needed for construction.

Letters of interest to connect must be received by April 30. Easements must be processed and recorded by May 15. Requests for service received after April 30 will not be included in initial construction.

Residents who choose to connect after construction will be responsible for the Village of Barnesville’s current tap fee of $3,300 (subject to change) for the meter pit and water meter. The service line from the street to the structure will be a property owner expense.

For questions or to request a connection during initial construction, contact Attorney Richard Myser at 740-635-0162.
