Barnesville-Bradfield Airport Day Planned
Barnesville-Bradfield Airport’s annual Airport Day returns, offering a range of aviation-focused activities designed to introduce the community to general aviation.
The free event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 6.
Activities will include airplane rides, aircraft displays, drone demonstrations, powered parachute demonstrations and opportunities to interact with local police, sheriff and fire departments.
Two Stack Bar-B-Que will offer food for attendees.
A jump castle, miniature train rides, face painting, a balloon artist and games will also be available for children.
Five pilots and aircraft will still be available to offer airplane rides over the general area. Tickets for rides will be sold on-site for $5. Helicopter rides were originally planned but have been canceled due to required aircraft inspection and maintenance.
President of the Belmont County Regional Airport Authority Greg Batts said the event is designed to maximize the community benefit of having a local general aviation airport, strengthen interest in aviation and introduce residents to the airport and its potential economic role in the region.

“The project is not intended to be a revenue generating event in the short term, but is intended to initiate renewed interest in, and utilization of, the local airport, which can have a long-range economic impact as it helps to attract increased tourism, business and investments into the area,” he said.
Batts added the event is intended to remain a community-centered attraction focused on families and residents from the local area, the Ohio Valley and surrounding states, rather than pilots.
Local support of the event is also key to its continued success. The following are sponsors for this year’s Airport Day: Belmont County Regional Airport Authority, Barnesville Chamber of Commerce, Belmont County Tourism Council, Joe’s Tires, Artworks, Village of Barnesville, Belmont County Sheriff’s Office, Belmont County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Sulek & Experts Realtor, Lakeland Foods, Smitty’s Septic Service, Belmont County Troop #59, Girl Scout Troop #10292, Harvey Goodman Realtor, Village Hardware & Rentals, Barnesville Dairy Queen, Stephen’s Towing, New Cut Tool & Manufacturing, Aerial Patrol Resource, Scott Whitacre’s Gadgets & Gizmos Show.
