Mother Nature Fails to Dampen Parade Enthusiasm
QUAKER CITY – The Phillip Carpenter Memorial Mile Long Parade stepped off promptly at 7 p.m. on Friday with overcast sky conditions. Forty minutes into the procession, rain drops began to fall, followed by a total deluge a few minutes later. Luckily, the parade was nearing its end. Unfortunately, the rainfall depressed midway crowds following the parade.
The festival posted the following winners after parade. “Our Patriotic winners in tonight’s mile long parade sponsored by The Bear’s Den Steakhouse and 360 Burger are 1st Place Joe’s Tire, 2nd Place Miller Family – Proud to be an American float and 3rd place Rita Bates and Carson Hastings, walking entry portraying Betsy Ross and Uncle Sam”.
