Pennyroyal Opera House Features Chris Davis Band

The Pennyroyal Opera House opens its 2026 fall season with the Chris Davis Band on Friday, September 18.

Chris Davis is originally from Fairborn, Ohio, and now lives in Russell, Kentucky. He has been playing bluegrass music professionally for over 25 years. Davis grew up performing with his family band, The Davis Brothers, which also included his brother Wes.

When Davis retired from active touring, he decided to lead his own band. The Chris Davis Band was formed in 2026. Their sound is rooted in traditional, hard-driving bluegrass. The band’s recordings blend classic bluegrass sensibilities with a slightly more modern presentation.

Bluegrass Today described their newly released material, including “Jenna Lea”, as having a strong Lonesome River Band-type feel.

Junction 144, an Ohio Valley traditional bluegrass band, will be the opening act.

The doors and kitchen open at 5 p.m. with the program starting at 7 o’clock. Tickets are $20 each, and children ages 12 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased at the door with cash only.

The Pennyroyal Opera House Bluegrass Program is operated and managed by an all-volunteer staff.  The Opera House is located in Fairview at the Guernsey-Belmont line, I-70 Exit 198.
