Thursday Festival Discoveries
A quick trip through the downtown festival areas after the official ribbon cutting opening of the 2026 Barnesville Pumpkin Festival Thursday night brought to light some activities or offerings that might otherwise go unnoticed.
First, the popular Olney Friends School pumpkin bread stand is rather hidden along West South Street beyond the Ohio Valley Cattlemen’s Club stand on South Chestnut Street. Continue walking beyond a food truck and you will find it. The pumpkin bread stand returns following an absence of several years.
The Barnesville State Theater at 137 West Main Street is open for tours and presents live entertainment during specific hours each day. The programming got underway Thursday night. Hours of operation and entertainment for the remainder of the weekend may be found here.
The popular Fairyland Ice Cream located south of Barnesville closed for the season over the Labor Day Weekend. The business is set up at the very end of the festival area on West Main Street near Gardner. Cones and cups of homemade ice cream and milkshakes may be purchased through Sunday afternoon.
Finally, Belmont County Tourism Director Jackee Pugh, who spent much of the day in Barnesville, shared the video views of Wednesday’s Weigh-off was blowing up the internet. Sixteen thousand viewers!
