Monroe Theater Returns

WOODSFIELD – The grand reopening of The Historic Monroe Theatre in Woodsfield, Ohio, takes place on Friday, October 9, 2026, as part of the statewide Ohio Goes to the Movies initiative celebrating America 250-Ohio. The feature film is The Reliant, filmed in Zanesville and Coshocton in 2016.

Tickets are free but required to see the movie. They became available Oct 1 at the theater’s box office from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. daily until gone.

Restoration and renovation of the Monroe, located at 104 North Main Street, dates back more than a decade and a half of fundraising and work capped off by a $4.6 million award through Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s Appalachian Community Grant Program.

The evening will kick-off with an official ribbon-cutting at 5 p.m., followed by a reception hosted by the Monroe Arts Council, guided tours, and special appearances by actors and extras in the movie.
