An unofficial “toast” to the new Welcome to Barnesville Mural that now adorns the Barnesville Antique Mall took place Thursday morning.  Joining John Rataiczak, left, president of the Chamber, at the event, were: Joanna Gibson (Owner Chick-fil-A), Barb Ballint (Board Barnesville Chamber of Commerce), Patty Riemenschneider (Woodsfield Savings Bank), Haley McFarland and Cathryn Stanley (Belmont County Tourism Office), Nathan Lambert (Grenadier Energy), Luke Johnson and Lynda Mayberry (Barnesville  Historical Architectural Review Committee) Brian Mayhugh (Barnesville Antique Mall), Jill Hissom (Director Barnesville Chamber of Commerce), Dave Mayberry, Jake Hershberger (Mayor), Scott Hagen (The Barn Artist).   

The Chamber posted the following: “Special thanks is extended to Grenadier Energy, Belmont County Tourism and the Village of Barnesville for sponsoring the beautiful mural. And, thank you, Shekinah Christian Fellowship for the delicious refreshments”.

Hagan also posted the following on social media: “Thank you to all Barnesvillians for all the amazing positive comments while you walked and drove by during my weeks of work. The mural was designed by Luke Johnson and approved by the Village Council over the summer. Another major and exciting mural is planned for spring/summer 2025.”

Astoria Place of Barnesville Hosts Seniors’ Wreath Making Session

Flushing Man Sentenced for Vehicle Fatality

Benjamin Romshak, 33, of Flushing was sentenced to a total of nine years in prison for aggravated vehicular homicide for an accident that took place last November on SR 331 between Flushing and Route 40.

Killed in the accident was Sunni Rae Scott, owner of a Flushing business. Romshak, who was highly impaired at the time of the accident, went left of center and hit Scott’s vehicle head on.
