Veteran Teacher Announces Retirement

Murray Stafford

Barnesville High School science instructor Murray Stafford on April 24 announced his impending retirement at the end of the school year.

“After 34 years of teaching Science at Barnesville High School, I have made the decision to retire at the end of this school year. I know that students often talk about the teachers who had an impact on them, but, understand that it goes both ways. In other words, students also have an impact on their teachers. And, over the years, there have been so many students that have made lasting impressions on me.”

“And so, I want to say “Thank You” to all my former students as well as the staff and administration at BHS for making the last 34 years at Barnesville a wonderful and memorable experience. I also want to thank the community for welcoming Marcia and I at a time when we didn’t know a single person in the area.

“As you probably know, I have also been serving as the Pastor at Victory Baptist Chapel in St. Clairsville, and I will continue to serve in that position. In addition to that, I have also accepted two other part-time positions. I will be serving as a Hospital Chaplain at Southeastern Medical Center (Cambridge Hospital), and I will also be serving as a Chaplain for Stonerise Hospice in St. Clairsville.”
