Quaker City Celebrates 121 Years of Longest-running Ohio Festival

The Ohio Hills Folk Festival is set for next week where people can enjoy live music, a car show, a flea market and more.

The Ohio Hills Folk Festival will take place along Fair and South Streets in Quaker City, Thursday through Saturday, July 10-12.

The Ohio Hills Folk Festival is considered to be the longest-running festival in Ohio, according to its website. The event traces its roots to a fall fair in 1871. In 1904, the current festival was established.

Describing the festival as family friendly, the website goes on to state, “The Ohio Hills Folk Festival strives to create a welcoming and safe environment for everyone.”

The festival offers free admission with free parking at Walton Field along SR 265 in the west end of the village.

Thursday’s Kiddie Parade features children dressed as favorite characters and different floats.

Friday evening features the famous Philip Carpenter Mile Long Parade, followed by the crowing of the new OHFF Queen by retiring 2024-2025 OHFF Queen, Beka Zaleski, and the naming of other festival royalty.

“Growing up, I always admired the festival royalty, however, I never imagined that one day I would become one of them,” Zaleski said. “I am proud to be the person representing the Ohio Hills Folk Festival, and though my time as queen is coming to a close, I still enjoy every moment of it.”

On the last day of the festival, the Queen’s Parade will begin at 7 p.m., featuring the OHFF Queen and queens from other festivals. Capping off the evening will be a spectacular fireworks display.

Highlights from the festival days include live music from, Buzzy Holland, Larry Porter and Harold Dailey, Kennedy Wilkinson, “Big Fat Dog Blues Band” and more. Other features include a car, truck and bike show, pet show, 5k and 10k run/walk, quilt show, pie baking contest, scavenger hunt and rummage sale.

A full agenda for the three days and more information can be found on OHFF’s website and Facebook page.
