A Little Leak Here, A Little Leak There

Monday afternoon, Barnesville Water Department employees battled temperatures in the high 80s and 88 percent humidity to tackle a water leak in the alley to the rear of East Main Street east of the old railroad tunnel.
While getting to and repairing the leak was the goal, one can also imagine trenching through 217 years of history on one of the most historic alleys in town.
The following day, Village Administrator Roger Deal reported crews will next focus on a small valve leak on East Main Street near Grace Avenue that oozes water for some distance along the edge of the east bound lane.
The other issue at that location is a spring that surfaces in the eastbound pavement just east of Grace Avenue. In normal years, springs of this nature are active in the springtime but dry through the summer months. This year’s persistent, measurable rainfall continues to supply the spring with plenty of H20.
