A fire ignited by a tree blown down onto a power line Sunday afternoon covered 8.8 wooded acres along State Route 379 near Temperanceville according to a spokesperson for the Somerton Volunteer Fire Department.

Chamber Seeks ‘Barnesville Collection’ Pieces

Thirty years ago, during the heyday of the “Barnesville Victorian Village Project,” local Bread and Breakfast operator Janet Thompson commissioned a 14-piece set of miniature buildings that were popular collector pieces.

Barnesville Chamber Director Jill Hissom is currently seeking a number of pieces to form a complete set of the collection. The chamber would like to raffle them off  via a fundraiser to raise funds for chamber events.
