The Somerton Community Church will host a square dance and cake walk the evening of Nov. 22 at the Shady Lane Event Center, Barnesville, to benefit the six victims of an August oil well fire/explosion in Washington County.
The Pennyroyal Opera House will host the Larry Stephenson Band on Nov. 21.
The Santa Sprint is a racing event that raises money for needy children during Christmas. The event begins at 2:30 on Dec. 6.
There are several public meetings scheduled to take place this week.
Kristi Sloan, career navigator for the Barnesville and Union Local school districts, is busy planning the BHS career fair that will take place November 25. Hours for the event are from 9:15 a.m. to 12:30 pm. at the high school gymnasium.
A community meeting set for 6-8 p.m. November 18 at the New Life Center, 219 W. Church St. will introduce the Barnesville Community to the Main Street Program coordinated in Ohio by Heritage Ohio.
The Barnesville Area Chamber of Commerce will bring Christmas festivities to the village this December with the help of the community.
The Chamber of Commerce is still looking for people to set up at Christmas in the Park, vendors for Christmas in the Ville and sponsors for the ice skating rink.
The Kiwanis Club of Barnesville has launched its second annual Christmas Ornament Walk, a holiday fundraiser supporting local children in need, with 25 organizations participating.
A host of entertainers will grace the stage at 7 p.m., Nov. 20 for their annual Christmas variety show. The show will take place in the Barnesville High School auditorium for one night only.
