Shadyside businessman Dominic DeFelice won Tuesday’s Republican primary election for Belmont County Commissioners. He will move on to the November General Election against Democrat Frank Shaffer, Jr. who was on the ballot unopposed on the Democratic ticket.
In a hotly contested Republican primary contest for Belmont County Auditor, current two-term auditor Cindi Henry came up short in her bid for a third term.
Former county commissioner Josh Meyer beat Henry by 481 votes, 3,658 to 3,177. Former Shadyside official Nick Ferelli came in third with 901 votes.
Belmont County Prosecutor Kevin Flannagan will move to the other side of the bench in January when he replaces current Court of Common Pleas Judge John J. Vava who is age limited in the position.
