One of the longest-running and most respected wrestling events in the region returns this month as Barnesville High School hosts the 57 Annual Doan Ford–Barnesville Wrestling Invitational on Dec. 19–20. Founded in 1968, the tournament stands as one of the Tri-State area’s original wrestling invitationals and continues to draw top-tier competitors and powerhouse programs from across Ohio.
Barnesville hosted one of the region’s most competitive early-season wrestling showcases,, the 4th annual WesBanco Shamrock Duals.
Several Barnesville varsity team members were selected for football honors from All-Ohio to All OVAC and the Buckeye 8 Conference.

Barnesville High School Senior, Keegan Martin, rolled 12 consecutive strikes to score a perfect 300 against Union Local on November 25, 2025, at Chestnut Lanes.
Barnesville Middle School student, Coy Jackson, who won the ATVMX state and national course titles at Nashport, Ohio, in August was honored a formal ceremony recently where he was formally recognized and received his championship trophy.
Senior Shamrock baseball standout Dylan Blon will continue his academic and athletic career at Marietta College as a member of the Pioneer Baseball Squad.
