National Day of Prayer Service Planned for Barnesville

The National Day of Prayer service will take place at noon on May 7 at the Barnesville Veterans Plaza, located at the corner of East Main and Arch streets.

The ceremony, sponsored by the Barnesville Area Ministerial Association (BAMA), will feature local pastors and community leaders offering prayers for the community, nation and world.

The Barnesville High School choir will perform the national anthem, and Mayor Jake Hershberger will offer remarks on the importance of prayer within the community.

Each year, the National Day of Prayer adopts a theme. This year’s theme is “Glorify God Among the Nations, Seeking Him in All Generations.”

The event will last less than 30 minutes, and citizens are invited, even encouraged, to join the prayer leaders for the service.

More information about the National Day of Prayer is available on its official website.

“The purpose is to bathe our whole community in prayer, to lift up all the people, the children of the community, and let them know that they are being prayed for and God is watching over them,” pastor of the First United Methodist Church Reverend Van Fisher said.
