Captina Conservancy Hosts Fifth Duck Dash Bash

The fifth Captina Conservancy Duck Dash Bash will begin at Noon, Saturday, June 27, with the race set to launch at 1:30 p.m.

The race, open to the public, will be staged along the creek on Steele Road in Washington Township. Directions to the site are to follow State Route 148 to Township Road 114/Steele Road, located just west of Armstrong Mills. Head north on Steele Road until it reaches the creek. GPS location is: 39.916433, -80.962121.

The Duck Dash is one of the conservancy’s major fund raising efforts each year. The race offers participants the opportunity to select a rubber duck, give it a name and race it down the Captina Creek in order to win a cash prize: $400 for first, $200 for second, $150 for third, $100 for fourth, and $50 for last.

For those interested in participating in the race, tickets may be purchased online. Tickets are $10 each or three for $25. They may also be purchased in person from any board member, at the Captina Conservancy’s office at 998 Shamrock Drive, or at the Flower Gardens of Barnesville located at 242 South Gardner Street.

In addition to the race, the event will feature other activities including children’s games, a dress-a-duck contest, food, and more.

Previous Duck Dash races may be viewed on the Captina Conservancy YouTube page.

All proceeds from the event go to the Captina Conservancy, a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose mission is to promote, protect, and preserve Captina Creek and other regional watersheds. The event will also be a no duck left behind event, as volunteer sweeper crews will be following the ducks to ensure that there are no impacts on the Captina Creek.
