Expanded ‘Safety Day’ Set for BHS Campus

The annual Safety Day hosted by Barnesville Fire and EMS moves this year from the fire station downtown to the campus of Barnesville High School, 910 Shamrock Drive. The popular event is free!

Fire Chief Bob Froehlich has shared with village council members the new location permits more displays and more hands-on activities directed to the younger set.

Safety Day is set for the hours of 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, August 1.

A list of activities and participants as of July 21 includes:

  • ICR dunk tank
  • Ohio Valley Foamz
  • Smokey the Bear
  • Barnesville Fire & EMS (Station 12)
  • Barnesville Police
  • Belmont County Sheriff James G. Zusack
  • Ohio State Highway Patrol  
  •  
  • #Lovelike Afton (Learn about the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning while open air boating)
  • Ohio State Fire Marshal
  • Barnesville Women’s Club (General Federation of Women’s Clubs)
  • Barnesville Life Guards
  • Bethesda Fire & Rescue (Station 18)
  • Somerton Fire Department (Station 37)
  • Fairview Fire Department
  • Belmont County Emergency Management Agency
  • WVU Medicine/Barnesville Hospital
  • Columbia Gas
  • Bel-O-Mar Regional Planning Commission
  • HealthNet Aeromedical Services

Free hotdogs will also be offered to Safety Day participants.

Sponsorship opportunities include the ICR dunk tank and Ohio Valley Foamz, according to a release by the department. Volunteers for the dunk tank are also needed!
