State Theater Caps ‘Hocus Pocus’ Movie with Costume Contests
Two Halloween Revival Screenings Saturday Afternoon and Evening
BARNESVILLE – A real Halloween Treat will be offered on Saturday when the Barnesville State Theater shows the original 1993 film, Hocus Pocus, starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy, Omro Katz, Vanessa Shaw and others.
The film, today considered a Halloween classic, runs 1 hour 36 minutes. Two options are available for viewing the movie, one at 2 p.m. and the other at 6 p.m.
Following each of the two showings, a costume contest will be judged by a panel comprised of theater students from Barnesville High School.
Three costumed winners from each showings will receive Home Pizza gift cards.
Available for purchase to enjoy during the movie is the theater group’s new “loaded” popcorn bucket that can be flavored with various sweet treats, including Oreo Cookies, M & M’s and more.
No admission fee for the movie will be charged, but donations will gladly be accepted “to support theater revitalization efforts”, a release notes.
Attendees are encouraged to bring along a jacket as the auditorium may be chilly.
The group continues to work on installing a new heating/cooling system. A state Capital Bill grant of $150,000, secured by State Senator Brian Chavez and State Representative Ty Moore earlier this year, will be utilized to help accomplish this goal.
Tax deductible donations are always welcomed by the 501c3 nonprofit Barnesville State Theater Company. Send donations to the theater at P.O. Box 255, Barnesville, OH 43713
