Storybook Park Shares Literacy Fun with Hundreds

Barnesville Hutton Memorial Library’s Storybook Park on October 4 brought out hundreds of people who engaged in a fun, family literacy day.
Storybook Park featured interactive stories that came to life and crafts for families. Children listened to stories set up around the park while engaging in activities, such as a balloon artist, carnival games and a sing along.
The day was about getting children excited about reading, library director Brandi Little said.
The library estimated around 200 adults and around 200 children attended. Little said she saw many children ages two to six at the event.
“It was enjoyed by all. We had beautiful weather. It’s just kind of magical to be outside at the park enjoying the stories and singing along … It’s fun to see all the smiles on all the kids,” Little said. “We couldn’t pull this off without all the community help, the people who attend and all who continue to make it a success.”
