Purse Bash Raises Funds for Community Service Project

The GFWC Women’s Club of Barnesville staged another outstanding Designer Purse Bash on April 12 at the Barnesville Elks.

The annual event educates participants and supports a Women’s Club service project addressing a specific need within the community. This year it was the GFWC Signature Project—Domestic and Sexual Violence Prevention and Awareness.

Featured at the event was a “new-to-you boutique table” where community members who donated jewelry, purses, scarves and hats received a ticket for each piece donated for a chance to win a Michael Kors purse.  Donated items were then sold for financial donations for the project.

The group expressed a special thanks to fourth-year sponsors Braido Memorials, Wilson Funeral Home and Bill Knox, CPA.

Other area business sponsors for the bash included Do It Best Hardware Barnesville, Woodsfield Saving Bank, Sonotone Hearing Aid Center Barnesville and Mathew Schmidt Plumbing & Electrical.

In-kind donations came from Aire Beauty Bar, Main Street Barrel House, Bel-Morr Market, Sleep-Inn Hotel, Quiznos, Way to Go Travel, Barnesville Volunteer Fire Department, Alli Anderson Massage, Blossoms, Tastefully Simple with Lorie Marnell, Pickenpaugh Lumber, Beeology Coffee & Bakery, WVU Medicine/Barnesville Hospital, Chestnut Level Budget Finds and Crazy Mommas Good Deals.

The club appreciated Barnesville Band members Peyton, Jackson, Jillian and Taylor for their assistance with setting up and decorating as well as “Miss Naomni” for her contributions. “Their generous support greatly contributed to the success of the event”.
