The Barnesville High School Campus provided a new, perfect location for the Barnesville Volunteer Fire Department and EMS Safety Day, this past Saturday. The site provided plenty of room for displays, demonstrations and the perfect spot for a helicopter landing. In previous years, the free event was staged along East Church Street at the fire station.

HealthNet Aeromedical Services, Inc., a West Virginia- based medical helicopter service, shared information on the company.
“Sparky”, safety dog representing the Ohio Fire Marshal’s Office, interacted with many youngsters at the event. Here, he chats with the grandson of Fire Chief Bob Froehlich. (the voice and master behind “Sparky” is visible in the background making it all happen).
“Sparky” was offered a potato chip. He accepted!
Youngsters tried their luck dunking firemen and other volunteers. Sometimes, a little flexibility of the rules helped!
Mission accomplished.
Fairview Fire and EMS members were busy painting faces.

The Belomar Regional Transportation Agency was on hand sharing safety information.
In addition to Smokey, ODNR offered information.

The younger set tested themselves carrying water hoses over an obstacle course.
An added treat for youngsters after visiting all of the information stations was romping in foam provided by Ohio Valley Foamz.
