Barnesville’s National Day of Prayer

The National Day of Prayer sponsored by the Barnesville Area Ministerial Association (BAMA) was observed on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at noon on the Veteran Plaza. Pastor Van Fisher, minister at First United Methodist Church and Batesville UMC, gave the welcome. After the Pledge of Alligiance, the BHS choir sang The Star Spangled Banner and Just as I Am.
Barnesville High School Principal Ron Clark spoke about the power of two or three uniting together to pray. Clark concluded his speech, “And may we leave here not just encouraged, but commissioned, to be a praying people, a unified people, a people who know that when we gather in Jesus’ name, heaven touches earth.”


Barnesville Mayor Jacob Hershberger read a proclamation declaring May 1, 2025, a Day of Prayer in the Village of Barnesville.
Ed Eberbert, First Christian Church of Barnesville, led a prayer for our schools. Liza Spence, LifeWise Academy, led a prayer for our village. Pastor Dale Warrick, Somerton Community Church, led a prayer for our nation. Pastor Don Eberhart, Centerville Christian Church, led a prayer for our world.
Retired Pastor Jean Cooper reminded us of Romans 15:13, “Pour out to the God of hope and be filled,” which was the national focus for the day of prayer. The program was concluded with a closing prayer, and then everyone prayed The Lord’s Prayer together.
