On Tuesday, in support of the Trump Administration’s Make America Beautiful Commission goals, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service, the Appalachian Regional Commission, the Denali Commission, and the Northern Border Regional Commission announced the selection of 25 small and rural communities from across the country that will receive assistance to grow their outdoor recreation economies through the Recreation Economy for Rural Communities program.

The second annual Fairview Fire Department Fall Festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday at Fairview Village Park.
The Beallsville Fall Festival with vendors, food, games and more will take place this weekend for fall, family fun.
The festival will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Washington Street in Beallsville.
The Barnesville Hutton Memorial Library prepares for its Storybook Park event, which features interactive stories and crafts for families.
Storybook Park will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the park. It will be located at Barnesville Middle School if inclement weather.
The Barnesville Pumpkin Festival Antique and Classic Car Show will return Sunday from cars across the region.
The Barnesville Pumpkin Festival, a tradition loved by area residents, reaches people worldwide, including a couple from Italy who joined the festival Friday evening.
Italy natives Ricardo Zanini and Marta Raffaello, who are key contributors at Pietro Fiorentini in Weirton, WV, traveled to the Barnesville Pumpkin Festival for an evening.
The auction of the King Pumpkin along with the carved pumpkin and six handblown glass pumpkins Saturday afternoon following the parade netted over $20,000 for the festival.
Once again, Guy Smithhisler, professional pumpkin carver and food artist from Columbus, came to Barnesville to share his artistic talents with festivalgoers.
