The Pumpkin Festival weigh-in brought in 21 entries, top 10 winners and Bill Neptune winning the King Pumpkin title.
Five-time winner Bill Neptune, from New Concord, said it felt amazing to win the King Pumpkin title. Initially he thought his pumpkin would only weigh around 1,700 lbs, and after losing three of his pumpkins during growing, he brought his one pumpkin left, which brought him the winning title.
Barnesville residents and those residing within one mile of the village limits were invited to decorate their homes to get the community into the pumpkin festival spirit. Barnesville businesses showcase their creativity and enthusiasm for the Pumpkin Festival by decorating their buildings and grounds with autumn-themed decorations. The first place winner was presented with a plaque that can be hung in the business. All places received ribbons. Two Stack Bar-B-Que and Carolyn and Terry Stephen sponsored this contest. Winners
Two local churches, Assumption Catholic Church, 306 W. Main, and Shekinah Christian Church, 137 W. Main, will offer lunch and dinner options at the pumpkin festival.
