First BHS Queen of Queens Pageant
On Wednesday night, several of Barnesville High School’s poised and talented senior girls will take the stage to determine which candidate will represent BHS at the OVAC Queen of Queens pageant in July. Carissa Allen, Tonya Trigg, and Tricia Zaccagnini are the organizers of the inaugural event. “We feel this is a great way to give every high school senior girl a chance to showcase her talent in a positive way,” said Carissa Allen.
First, the queen candidates will be interviewed individually by each of the judges before the event, and their scores will count for 15% of the total. The stage portion includes introductions, talent, and evening gowns. The talent portion counts for 60% of the total score. The evening gown portion is 25% of the score, focusing on poise and presentation. WesBanco’s John Rataiczak is the master of ceremonies. Bryar Shilling, a Barnesville eighth grader, will entertain the audience between judged portions of the pageant. Abigail Johnson, the 2025 Barnesville Queen of Queens candidate and a WVU student, will crown the winner. In addition to a crown, the winner will receive a plaque and flowers donated by Blossoms.
The first OVAC Queen of Queens pageant occurred in 1952, with Barnesville sending a representative. Barnesville has had two winners: Becky Cheffy in 1974 and Alana Trigg in 2021. The 2026 OVAC Queen of Queens winner will be announced at the 80th OVAC Rudy Mumley All-Star Charity Football Game on Saturday, July 18, at the Wheeling Island Stadium.
