Local 2026 Franklin B. Walter Scholastic Award Winners
According to the East Central Ohio Educational Center (ESC), Ohio’s top students from each of the state’s 88 counties were honored by the Ohio Educational Service Center Association (OESCA) on April 13 at the annual Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Awards Program in Columbus, Ohio.
The OESCA established this award program in 1989 to promote student academic achievement and recognize service to their schools and communities. One senior is selected from each county for this annual honor. The award program is named after Franklin B. Walter, the 31st State Superintendent of Instruction.
This year’s keynote speaker was Todd Kleismit, Executive Director of the America 250-Ohio Commission. Kleismit spoke about how Ohio’s students play an important role in shaping the future. OESCA Executive Director Craig Burford presented each student with an award for their achievement.
The East Central Ohio Educational Service Center recognized winners from Belmont, Guernsey, Harrison, Noble and Tuscarawas counties. Each student received a $500 scholarship for their outstanding achievement and service.
