Track and Field: Boys Secure OVAC Title, Girls Take Second
ST. CLAIRSVILLE – Both Barnesville High School’s boys and girls track and field teams competed in the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference (O.V.A.C.) on May 9, 2026 at Red Devil Stadium in St. Clairsville, Ohio.
The boys team took first place in the 3A division with the Shenandoah Zeps trailing them by two points. The Shamrocks finished with 98 team points, whereas the Zeps finished with 96 points.

Interestingly enough, the girls team placed second in the 3A division to the first place Zeps. The lady Shamrocks tallied 100 points to Shenandoah’s 106 points.
In recent years, track and field has been one of Barnesville’s more competitive sports thanks in part to not only superb athletes like 2022 alum Tyler Jenkins and 2024 alum Marah Bethel, but also to the coaching.
Coach Dylan Rogers (for the boys team) and Coach Mark Brown (for the girls team) have helped motivate some exceptional athletes in the history of Barnesville High School.
Speaking of which, how each of these two squads performed so well did come down to remarkable performances from the likes of sophomore Evan Wells, sophomore Brady Powell, freshman Addy Reed and senior Lydia Fuchs.
Wells placed twelfth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.20, and followed that up by taking tenth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.67.
In the 800 meter run, Powell took eleventh with a time of 2:07.64.
Reed, competing in the mile run, finished by placing thirteenth among her peers and had a time of 5:49.91a. Her teammate, Fuchs, took eighth place while competing in the 300 meter hurdles. She finished with a time of 50.74.
This O.V.A.C. championship is the boys’ team’s second trophy, since they also won it in 2025. Although they finished in second place, the girls’ team remained competitive, as they were previously the reigning champs in the 2024 season.
