American Legion St. Clairsville Post 159 Named Presenting Sponsor of ‘The Wall That Heals’ in Belmont County
Press Release
ST CLAIRSVILLE — Belmont County Tourism and along with the Belmont County Wall That Heals Planning Committee are proud to announce American Legion St. Clairsville Post 159 as the Presenting Sponsor of The Wall That Heals, the traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial exhibit that will visit Belmont County October 1–4, 2026.
The announcement comes just days before Independence Day as communities across the nation continue commemorating America’s 250th anniversary, a fitting reminder of the sacrifices made by generations of American service members in defense of our nation’s freedoms.
Hosted at the Belmont County Fairgrounds, The Wall That Heals is a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., accompanied by a mobile Education Center. Belmont County is one of thirty communities selected nationwide to host the exhibit in 2026.
“We are incredibly grateful to American Legion St. Clairsville Post 159 for their leadership and commitment to helping bring this nationally significant exhibit to Belmont County,” said Jackee Pugh, Executive Director of Belmont County Tourism. “Their support demonstrates the deep honor and respect our community has for those who served and sacrificed.”
American Legion St. Clairsville Post 159 has long served veterans and their families throughout Belmont County, making the organization a natural partner in welcoming The Wall That Heals to the Ohio Valley.
As Belmont County celebrates its 225th anniversary alongside America’s Semiquincentennial, organizers believe the exhibit provides an opportunity not only to honor Vietnam veterans but also to educate future generations about the cost of freedom and the importance of preserving our nation’s history.
Planning efforts continue as organizers prepare for thousands of visitors during the four-day exhibit. More than 200 volunteers will be needed to assist with setup, visitor services, hospitality, overnight staffing, ceremonies, and other event operations. Additional community sponsorship opportunities also remain available for businesses and organizations wishing to financially support the exhibit.
“The Wall That Heals belongs to our entire community,” said Pugh. “Every volunteer, every sponsor, and every visitor will help create an experience that honors those who served and ensures their stories continue to be remembered.”
